Here is our latest website. The Real McCoy Cabin’s previous website needed to be updated; it included broken links and misinformation. It was not built with SEO in mind, and its page rankings have been slipping. We built a new site and will help them maintain it with current, SEO-powered information.
A properly maintained website that uses website analytics can grow its business by understanding the customer experience while using the website. Focusing on your customers and how they navigate your website can help you better understand the best advertising methods.
Historic Pocahontas, Inc., is a 501(c) nonprofit organization that helps preserve the historic buildings of Pocahontas, VA. Their goal for the website was to provide the public with a place to learn about all the progress they were making and to post any news. We set up a blog that will act as their news post. This will show on their front page and an archive page.
Spearhead Properties needed a website that would allow them to take short-term reservations for their rental properties and grow with their business as they added new properties. We presented them with different options, and they chose the one that best fit their business goals. The love the site and have gotten reservcations from their site saving the fees of Airbnb.
The Bobby Shew Community Center is a Historic Pocahontas, Inc. property. They just needed a very basic website. The Community Center has yet to reopen since Covid. When it does, we will work with them to provide more information on their website.
When the owner of Spearhead Properties bumped into the owner of The Company House of Pocahontas and told her of his new website, she called us. She had a lot of repeat business that used Airbnb or Vrbo to place their bookings, which caused her to pay hefty commission fees. The software has a low annual cost and no commission fees.
We built her website much quicker than she expected, so we are still waiting for her to set up a Stripe or PayPal account to complete her payment process.
The Pocahontas High School committee came to us with a huge problem. Their previous web builder passed away, and he took all the site information with him. They paid him, and he paid for the domain and the hosting. The committee had no idea what services he used, so they called us for help.
After we tracked down the service providers, we saw we were in for red tape. We could pay for hosting but not have access to the account until a death certificate was provided. On top of this, the hosting company placed ads on the website!
We knew that even if we could access the account, this would not be the best direction for the customer. We made a big decision, starting with a better domain name and over 150 screenshots of the current site; we started a new site. They wanted the new site to look as much like the old one as possible. When we made the switch, most could not spot any difference.
This was another problem we encountered. The car club thought it owned the domain but realized the previous web builder owned it and was willing to sell it back to them for a hefty markup. We suggest they buy it or go with “.net.” They went with .net, and we built their site; they owned the domain this time. (Never let the builder own the domain)
